Fanghui Chen-Anna (陈芳慧) Professional Erhu (two-stringed Chinese Fiddle) Performer

As an intercultural art promoter and performing artist, Fanghui has toured in China, Eastern Europe, Hungry, Macedonia and Australia. Her artistic activities have been featured by China central television’s (CCTV), ABC Radio, SBS Channel 9 and performed internationally in variety of Festivals and national concert hall, including Hungarian National Music and Dance Festival-Summerfest, Ohrid Summer Festival, BrisAsia Festival, ZillmereFestival, Beijing Concert Hall and Sydney Opera House etc. Aside from her devotion to the culture of traditional music, she is also enthusiastic about exploring new music, idioms, sounds, genres, culture, and other aspects of musical perception. She pursues the true nature of music and brings the Eastern culture through music within cultural landscape of Brisbane.
As an educator and researcher, she is represented by the China Ministry of Culture to promote and attend programs of traditional culture and music to develop intercultural musical communication in Europe. Fanghui is represented by the University of Queensland as an artist to perform in the 50th Anniversary of Australia-China Relations. She is passionate about intercultural music performance, improvision and creating unique musical forms that bridge cultures and communities to form connections within the local community.
Additionally, she participants in the Songify research projects as well as a guest artist to dedicate multicultural music forms and explore creative practice of intercultural music within Brisbane musical landscapes. Also, she organizes a Chinese Music workshop at University of Queensland. Fanghui as a speaker, attended the 2023 Biennial Conference of the Chinese Studies Association of Australia. She is currently professional Erhu teacher at YW Music and have some private lessons and group lessons in person.
Fanghui holds a Bachelor of Arts (Erhu Performance) from the China Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music from the University of Queensland. She is currently pursuing her PhD degree in intercultural music education at the Queensland University of Technology.
